The NBA Section of Business Law (NBA-SBL) is set to organize the Banking and Finance Academy.
The organization which is in collaboration with the ILFA Africa, is part of their commitment to capacity building.
The course which is made of interactive modules, aims to provide junior finance lawyers/attendees with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of Banking and Finance.
According to the information made available to TheNigerialawyer (TNL), the objectives of the program are:
understanding the main type and structure of corporate borrowing, and how lenders raise money;
understanding the general structure of loan facility agreement and its key clauses; understanding the reasons for and methods of transfers of loans of bank;
appreciating the concepts of taking and perfecting security;
considering the reasons for and methods of sorbodination;
understanding capital market and types of security, and the forms and nature of bonds;
review of Insolvency Law for debt finance lawyers;
understanding tax matters relevant to banking lawyers;
understanding the nature of derivatives and how the market of derivatives works;
and understanding different types of financing relevance in Nigeria.
The deadline for application is the 15th day of February, 2019, as the program is expected to last for March, 25th through March, 27th.
