A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Ahmed Tijjani Badamasi has restrained Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from creating four additional emirates in the state.

Justice Badamasi also ordered the governor to desist from appointing anybody as emir of the new emirates.

The judge also directed that the order be served to the respondents through publication in Daily Trust newspapers.

This is the second court to issue such order restraining the governor from creating Gaya, Rano, Bichi and Karaye Emirates.

A High Court in the state, presided over by Justice Nasiru Saminu, had earlier issued a similar order.

Justice Badamasi issued the order yesterday following the suit filed by four Kano kingmakers, Sarkin Bai Alhaji Mukhtar Adnan, Makaman Kano Alhaji Sarki Ibrahim Makama, Madakin Kano Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani and Sarkin Dawaki Maituta Alhaji Bello Abubakar.

The complainants are challenging the creation of four additional emirates in the state.

Other parties in the suit are Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly Kabiru Alhassan Rurum; the assembly; the Attorney-General of the state, Sarkin Gaya Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya; Sarkin Rano Tafida Abubakar Ila, Sarkin Karaye Ibrahim Abubakar ll and Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

Justice Badamasi adjourned the case to June 3 for hearing of the motion on notice.
