Committee of Chairmen and Secretaries of NBA, Anambra state has resolved to call off the planned court boycott.

This was sequel to the letter received by the Chairman of all Chairman NBA, from Anambra State Chief Registrar, Chinyere Ossy-Okoye upon the directives of Honourable Acting Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu, calling in for their proposal.

Justice O. M. Anyachebelu represented the Chief Judge in a meeting held by the Committee at Awka, Anambra State, considering some interventions from other well-meaning Nigerians, then resolved that the proposed boycott of courts by all lawyers in Anambra state which was scheduled to commence on Monday, the 10th day of June 2019 be suspended till further notice.

They also held that the Court Rules should be subjected to some amendments within the shortest possible time and that the Ag Chief Judge of Anambra state is requested to suspend further application of the new Rules pending their required amendments

In the letter dated 6th June, 2019, signed by the Chief Registrar, made available to TheNigerialawyer Anambra NBA branches are required to identify all areas in the new Court Rules that needs to be amended and forward their proposal to the Rules Committee and or Acting Honourable chief judge through the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice, for further actions.

TheNigeriaLawyer Recall that Committee of Chairmen and Secretaries of NBA, Anambra state on Tuesday directed all lawyers in the state to boycott court following the adamant refusal of the state government to stop the hike in filing fees.
