A factional Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Ikem Uzoezie was on Tuesday invited for a meeting by the Department of State Services.
Uzoezie was seen driving out of the assembly complex at about 11 am with DSS officials.
Some minutes later, he circulated a Whatsapp message which read, ”I’m in the SSS office now.”
But when our correspondent spoke with the director of the DSS in the state, Mr Yusuf Isyaku, he said Uzoezie was not arrested.
He said, “We didn’t arrest anybody. Call Uzoezie now. We didn’t arrest him.”
Attempts to get Uzoezie on the telephone failed as his line rang out.
Shortly after Uzoezie left for the DSS office at Amawbia, the House met with the alleged impeached Speaker, Rita Maduagwu, presiding over the plenary.
Some lawmakers who attended the session passed a vote of confidence in her.
A heavy police presence was noticed at the assembly complex on Tuesday, with visitorsarched before they were allowed in.
Meanwhile, there was a mild drama in the House on Thursday as Maduagwu and Uzoezie struggled to occupy the Speaker’s seat.
Attempts made by Maduagwu to occupy the seat was stopped by Uzoezie.
Uzoezie, who seems to have the majority of the lawmakers on his side, finally occupied the seat compelling Maduagwu to stand..
