In a desperate attempt to twist facts and mislead the public, Adaobi Alagwu and her legal team have released yet another misleading statement contradicting a court ruling that has been clear and final since March 11, 2025. This comes months after the Customary Court in Dawaki, Abuja, ruled definitively that no marriage ever existed between Adaobi and businessman Dr. Tunde Ayeni.

In the official court ruling (Suit No. FCT/CC/CV/DKDK), the court concluded: “This exhibit shows that bride price was paid by Tunde Ayeni on Ms Alagwu and has been returned so no marriage can exist between the parties before us as the purported customary law marriage of parties before us is illegal ab-initio and has been dissolved by parties. The only thing the court can do at this junction is to make a declaration that there never was and never has been any marriage between the parties.”

In response, Ayeni’s legal counsel, released a clear and official statement a few days after the court ruling in March 2025 reiterating that the court dismissed Ms. Alagwu’s claims as lacking merit. “In its judgment on suit FCT/CC/CV/DKDK, delivered on Tuesday 11th March, the court ruled Ms Alagwu’s claims to lack merit, citing statutory limitations under the Marriage Act.”

However, Adaobi’s camp has attempted to spin the story with a misleading headline that reads: “We lack jurisdiction to entertain suit by Tunde Ayeni against Adaobi Alagwu – Court documents.” This contradicts even their own quoted ruling within the article, which affirms that no legal marriage existed. One then wonders what point she intends to make … they were not married and she was simply deceived and manipulated.

Their decision to wait until July to issue this distorted response months after the March ruling speaks volumes about their sinister motives. The timing strongly suggests their statement is simply a panicked reaction to Dr. Ayeni’s explosive, globally-syndicated interview in which he spoke publicly for the first time, calling the relationship “the darkest moment” of his life.

The final paragraph of their (Adaobi and her tema) article subtly reveals the real trigger: “It is instructive to note that Tunde Ayeni had recently granted a syndicated interview in some national newspapers and online publications where he made certain allegations against Adaobi and the baby child.”

What Adaobi and her team failed to address is the current and active court case where Ayeni is pursuing the recovery of two luxury Abuja properties still being shamelessly occupied by Adaobi and her mother.

In suit number FCT/HC/CV/1282/2025, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, Ayeni is seeking repossession of his properties located at DD38, Lakeview Estates, off Alex Ekwueme Way, Abuja and No. 48, Mike Akhigbe Street, Jabi, Abuja.

Ayeni has described their continued stay as nothing short of “shameless,” noting that these properties were offered as temporary accommodation when he was still “trying to manage” the situation. “Those things that I did out of the goodness of my heart were used to blackmail me,” Ayeni told journalists recently in Lagos. “If the family has any iota of respect and dignity for themselves, do I need to tell them before they vacate my houses?”

For anyone still doubting the truth, the court’s ruling and Ayeni’s ongoing legal actions speak louder than any manipulated headline. As Ayeni himself said: “Sometimes when people feel insulted, they can use 1 million naira to fight to recover 10,000 naira… not because you cannot overlook it, but because if people think you are stupid, you have to prove to them that you are not.”
