What began as a leaked video of a public altercation leading to Afrobeats icon 2Baba’s (Innocent Idibia) brief detention in the UK has escalated into a full-blown marital controversy.

The saga, unfolding over the past 24 hours, includes a chaotic live broadcast, viral social media posts, and explosive claims of abuse and control from the singer’s former managers. The drama has reignited debates about the 50-year-old star’s personal life just months after his traditional marriage to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.

The latest chapter erupted on Monday evening during a Facebook Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze, intended to address rumours surrounding 2Baba’s cancelled UK concert on October 2, 2025. Moments after 2Baba joined the stream, background audio captured a fierce argument with his wife, Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly representing Egor Constituency.

In the tense exchange, 2Baba was heard saying, “Shut the f** up, you need to shut the f*** up.” Natasha responded off-camera: “Is that Daddy Freeze’s? Innocent, bring that phone let him see us together.” Rustling sounds suggested a physical tussle over the device, followed by 2Baba’s exasperated “See what you are doing,” before the audio abruptly cut off.

A rattled Daddy Freeze addressed the audience: “Guys, calm down. Let’s hope there will be stability so that we will know what is going on.” He ended the session shortly after, leaving fans in a frenzy of speculation.

This on-air clash came hours after fresh videos surfaced online showing 2Baba being restrained by UK police following a confrontation with Natasha at a London shopping mall though sources now link it to an airport incident. In the clips, Natasha is heard shouting at the singer, who appeared briefly detained and handcuffed.

The controversy traces back to October 2, 2025, when 2Baba missed a scheduled concert during a UK tour with his then-pregnant wife. Initial rumours claimed he was arrested following a fight with Natasha at London’s Gatwick Airport. 2Baba dismissed the reports in an Instagram video, attributing the no-show to a “medical emergency” and urging fans to ignore gossip.

However, on December 1, 2025, blogger Tosin Silverdam reignited the saga by posting what he called “new evidence” videos purportedly showing the altercation. In one clip, Natasha screams, “Don’t do that, don’t f**king do it!!! Na everyday you go dey shout for me?? Wetin dey happen! Why are you shouting at me, why are you raising your voice at me?” Another shows police escorting a handcuffed 2Baba away from a store.

Kaka Igbokwe, 2Baba’s former manager and son of late music legend Christy Essien-Igbokwe, confirmed the videos’ authenticity during the same Daddy Freeze Live. Traveling with the couple, Igbokwe recounted that Natasha grew upset when 2Baba, mobbed by fans upon landing, “strolled away” into a shop, leaving her behind. Her lashing out escalated into the arrest. “Everything you had [heard about] the couple’s face-off was true,” Igbokwe stated, noting the incident contributed to the concert cancellation.

Silverdam’s post amplified the narrative, suggesting Natasha’s reaction stemmed from jealousy over 2Baba’s fan attention.

In contrast to the leaked footage, Natasha shared affectionate content about her husband on Instagram on December 1. One video shows the couple in a car, captioned “the finest dad alive,” while another shows them together with “A guy and a babe.” 2Baba reciprocated, posting a photo of Natasha with the moniker “Honorable Goddess.” These posts have divided online reactions, with some viewing them as damage control, while others see them as genuine amid marital turbulence.

The Daddy Freeze Live took a darker turn when Igbokwe and another former manager alleged that the couple uses drugs and that Natasha exerts a “bad influence,” keeping 2Baba “under her control.” They claimed multiple instances of Natasha’s violence toward the singer and said she dominates his finances. “She has been violent towards him… and now she’s the one in control of 2Baba’s finances,” one manager said, urging Nigerians to “help the singer.”

The incidents cast a shadow over 2Baba and Natasha’s July 25, 2025, traditional wedding months after his separation from ex-wife Annie Macaulay, mother of seven of his children. The union, blending music royalty and political prominence, was initially hailed as a fresh start but has now drawn intense public scrutiny.

As of December 2, neither 2Baba nor Natasha has issued an official statement regarding the live drama, leaked videos, or managers’ allegations.
