The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday said it received a total of 294,851 applications for recruitment into the Police Force.
This is in spite of the fact that the ongoing recruitment exercise is for only 10,000 constables.
Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement, said the entries were made between November 30, 2018, when the portal opened, and yesterday.
“The portal for the recruitment of 10,000 Nigerians into the Nigeria Police Force as Constables by the Police Service Commission will be officially closed on Friday, January 11, 2019,” Ani said.
He said entries would close by 12 midnight of today, in compliance with the Federal Character Commission’s requirement, that advertisements for recruitment into ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of government must last six weeks. Ani said:
“As at 12:30p.m. on Wednesday, 10th January, 294,851 applications have been received. Niger State maintained the lead in the number of applications received from each of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory with 17,790 applicants.
