A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mallam Yusuf Ali, has called on world leaders and citizens to make peace their mantra so that the world can be a better place for everyone. According to a statement, Ali made this plea recently while receiving the 2018 Peace Humanitarian Award at the California State University, Sacramento, United States. The legal practitioner was also presented with a plaque with the inscription, “California Legislative Assembly Resolution,” signed by the Chair, Legislative Black Caucus, US, Chris Holden. According to the statement, the Peace Award is an annual event organised by the board of the Centre for African Peace and Conflict Resolution of the California State University in honour of Africans who are doing well for humanity. Ali was said to be among the recipients of the 2018 awards for his “outstanding contributions of his talent, time and treasure in promoting peaceable communities, institutions, and organisations as well as numerous charitable works in the various parts of Nigeria.” While receiving his award from the Associate Dean, College of Health and Human Services of the university, Dr. Robin Carter, Ali expressed his gratitude to the institute for finding him worthy of this year’s honour. “I am honoured to be here this evening. This has equally challenged me to do more. The subject, ‘peace,’ is significant to us in our various societies because it brings development. So, it is important to buy into peacemaking and peace-building.”]]>
