The public presentation which holds on Friday, June 10, 2016 at AGIP Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos is to be chaired by eminent jurist and former Chairman of Nigeria’s Body of Benchers, Chief George Uwechue (SAN), while the book presenter is Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. With over 40 years practice experience under his belt, Ilogu has gained renown for his seminal contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria’s maritime sub-sector. A Consultant to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Ilogu who is also the Principal Counsel of Foundation Chambers consults for major maritime parastatals in Nigeria on maritime policies, legislation and contentious matters. He acts for P & I clubs and is retained as Solicitor to several shipping agencies, their overseas principals, logistic companies, oil & gas companies and a port terminal operator. Ilogu is a frequent resource person at the Maritime Seminar for Judges organized biennially by Nigerian Shippers’ Council/National Judicial Institute and at specialized maritime and international transport seminars and workshops. A painstaking writer and Master of Laws degree graduate of the Cardiff Law School, University of Wales specializing in Maritime Law, he is also the author of “Essays on Maritime Law and Practice.” Ilogu has published over 40 articles in local and international journals on shipping and maritime law. He was a lecturer in Carriage of Goods by Sea at the Institute of Maritime Law, Lagos State University between 2001 and 2005. In 2009 he served on the Transport Schematic Working Group for the Nigeria Vision 2020 Committee. In June 2010 he was engaged as the main IMO Facilitator at a Regional Training and Workshop on the Legal Implementation of the Ballast Water Management Convention, with participants from 16 African countries. Between August 2010 and May 2011, he acted as Chairman of the Federal Ministry of Transport Ports Reform Evaluation Committee. His professional affiliations include membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the International Bar Association (IBA). A one-time 2nd Vice President of the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), Ilogu has been an Advisory Board member of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN).
