Those screened on Tuesday were Prof Isaac Adewole, outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan in Oyo State; Abubakar Bwari Bawa; Geoffrey Onyeama from Enugu; Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed from Kaduna; Brig-Gen Mansur Mohammed Dan’Ali(retd) from Zamfara; and Pastor Usani Usani Uguru from Cross River State. The screening exercise was smooth throughout until it got to the turn of the last nominee to be screened Tuesday, Pastor Usani Usani, whose comment irked PDP Senators and he was asked to apologise by angry Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio. He said “God forbid” when he was linked to the PDP as his former party and Akpabio stood up and took a serious exception to the comment because he said Usani benefited from the party before he defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The Senate almost became rowdy before the Senate President Bukola Saraki intervened and calmed frayed nerves. Usani’s tax clearance also pitched him against the PDP senators. Five nominees are yet to be screened by the Senate.]]>
