The other three were the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Yussuff Lasun; the Chief Whip, Mr. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa; and the Minority Leader, Mr. Leo Ogor. The committee is chaired by Prof. Itse Sagay. Jibrin also named nine more members, including chairmen of committees in his allegations. In a letter addressed to Jibrin by the Executive Secretary of the presidential advisory panel, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, the former chairman was asked to visit its office on August 31 to make the submission. The letter read, “This is to acknowledge the receipt of your petition and request to meet with the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption. “You are hereby invited to meet with the Committee. Date, Wednesday 31st, August.” Jibrin described the invitation as “another victory” for the anti-corruption crusade he launched against the principal officers soon after he was sacked on July 20 for “abusing” the 2016 budget. He stated, “In another victory for my journey to ensure that justice is served on Speaker Dogara, Lasun, Doguwa, Ogor and nine other members, I have received official invitation from Prof. Itse Sagay SAN, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption to make a comprehensive presentation to the committee on the allegations I raised against Mr. Speaker and others and discuss strategies on how to achieve results.” Jibrin had previously made similar presentations to the police, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission and the Department of State Services. The agencies are investigating the allegations. Only on Monday, the Transparency Group in the House had said that the principal officers and Jibrin were equally “guilty” since he too allocated N5billion to himself in the budget. “Our position is that, if Lasun and Dogara now allowed such magnitude of insertions in billions of Naira to be made into the budget, they are as guilty as Jibrin,” a member of the group, Mr. Bashir Baballe, told our reporter. ]]>
