Ozekhome said the recall wore the ugly and hideous visage of corruption at its worst. He described the act as a clear evidence of the reign of impunity, corruption, and executive lawlessness. Ozekhome expressed his views in Lagos on Sunday. He added that Prof. Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health, had supervisory and disciplinary jurisdiction over Prof. Yusuf, the NHIS boss. “He set up a panel to probe his transgressions. He was found culpable. Adewole suspended Yusuf. “The latter laughed him to scorn, pooh-poohed and mocked him, reminding Adewole he was a sacred cow whom he cannot touch. “It has come to pass. The president rode over Adewole’s head and recalled the suspended executive secretary. “He laughed more. That is the very antithesis to fighting so-called corruption,” Ozekhome said. He added: “This government is now renowned for not only covering up corruption within government; it actually promotes it, protects it and manures it with fertilisers. “It fights corruption within government circles with sweet-smelling sasarabia perfume, whilst fighting corruption against opponents and government critics with powerful killer insecticides, herbicides and pesticides. “Against opposition, PMB government uses a pestle to kill mosquitoes, but uses serenading straws to put to sleep corrupt government officials. “That is why, till date, Mainagate, Barugate, Ojegate and all the other serial gates within the inner caucus of government have been conveniently swept under by the discriminating and selective APC broom. “There is no anti-corruption war going on; it’s a smokescreen, a facade, an artifice and design to hoodwink the gullible, the vulnerable, and the ignorant. Thank God I am not one of them.” Also, speaking, Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, said President Buhari, through his action, had just proved that the suspended NHIS boss was more powerful than the minister.]]>
