Whether planned or not, Queen Elizabeth wore matching colours with George Oguntade, Nigeria’s high commissioner, and his wife Modupe, when she hosted them at the Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.  The royal family shared a picture of the meeting via its Instagram page. “Today at Buckingham Palace, The Queen received and held an audience with the High Commissioner from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Rtd Justice George Adesola Oguntade,” the caption said. The trio, clad in royal colour purple hue, failed to escape the attention of fashionistas. https://www.instagram.com/p/BcXRdrBA4NI/?taken-by=theroyalfamily Sparing little thought for the significance of the meeting, the internet has fallen head over heels with the coordinated outfits of Her Royal Highness and the Oguntades. The Oguntades were in sync, clad in stripped Aso-Oke while the Queen donned a demure floral patterned dress worn with black flats. The picture of their meeting, which is fast going viral, will go down in history as a memorable fashion moment. Justice George Adesola Oguntade was born in Epe, Lagos State where he completed his basic formal education. He graduated from Holborn College of Law in 1964 after studying Law before he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School in 1965 and was eventually called to the Nigerian Bar on January 15, 1966. Hon. His tenure on the Supreme Court Bench witnessed the delivery of several landmark Judgments [including several dissents] which substantially impacted on many areas of law, particularly in the realm of constitutional and administrative law. Many of his dissenting judgments have attained the status of “locus classicus” and remain the subject of discourse and analysis in law schools and legal circles. Justice Oguntade retired from the Supreme Court Bench on the 10th day of March 2010 having attained the statutory retirement age of 70 years. In April 2010, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria decorated him with the national honours of “Commander of the Federal Republic” [CFR] in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of law in Nigeria.]]>
