Peace December, Bayelsa State Chapter Commends NBA For Its Role In Peace Building

The Organization through her Public Relation Officer, Kprake Joshua, appreciated the Association of Nigerian Lawyers for taking that bold step in this period of many challenges in the history of Nigeria. According to him: “We the registered trustee of Peace December, Nigeria Bayelsa State Chapter, took a thorough look and an appraisal of the Address of the President of the NBA, Sir. Abubakar, SAN, made at that National Executive Committee meeting at Kogi State. We are very happy and impressed with the NBA’s role as a mediator or a middle party in resolving the clashes between farmers and herdmens as revealed in the address. NBA as an association of Lawyers, is supposed to be better busy with the task of developing the legal profession, but going outside their number one mandate to see how security and safety can be achieved in our society is one step in a million”. The Organization affirms that NBA has simply shown that an organization needs not to be Peace centered as its aim and objectives, for it to be engaged in peace building. The Organization therefore calls on other professional organizations to follow suit, so that conflict resolution approach can be better employed in solving communal conflicts.
