The insistence by the party’s BOT is coming on the heels of calls by some state chapters of the party that the position of the chairman of the party be retained in the northern part of the country in order to give the party a national spread. Some members of the party have also been mooting the idea that Senator Ali Modu Sheriff should stay beyond the three months mandate given to him by the party’s National Executive Council in order to stabilize the party. Although the party’s National Executive Council NEC, had asked the Sheriff-led NWC to enpanel convention, financial, zoning and reconciliation committees ahead of the May 21 National Convention of the party to be held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, not much had been done to constitute these committees.]]>
