Rising from its meeting with the Director-General of NYSC, the committee released a directive urging institutions not to include graduates of part-time programmes and over-aged graduates in their mobilisation list. A circular issued after the meeting reads, “Both parties acknowledge the overall immediate and long term implications and potential charges of partial mobilisation on the Nigerian Tertiary education system, the graduates and the nation at large does not deserve any youth restiveness at this point in time and hence any decision that may precipitate imminent crises should be avoided. c graduates of universities be uploaded by the universities for the NYSC to mobilise as appropriate. All institutions are enjoined to comply immediately and also ensure that graduates of part-time programmes and over aged graduates are NOT included in their list,” it added. While urging the federal government and the National Assembly to provide resources needed for full mobilisation, the CVC said the time has come for a rethink of the future of the NYSC scheme to be undertaken. It also pleaded with graduates and prospective corps members to show understanding to the turn of events and patiently await further directives from the NYSC.]]>
