In the letter dated 18th May, signed by the General Secretary of the NBA, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, the NBA Ikorodu branch has been directed to stop any further preparation towards the election that is slated to take place on Wednesday, 23rd May 2018. According to the letter, NBA national secretariat received some petitions from five (5) members from Ikorodu branch with regards to the branch election. The Chairman of NBA Ikorodu has been instructed to send in his reply to the petitions to the office of the General Secretary on or before close of work on Monday, 21st May, 2018. TheNigerialawyer is yet to sight the said petitions as Some members of the branch we spoke to are concerned about this development asking whether a general secretary has the power or authority to make such demands of a branch chairman. We also wonder why it is the responsibility of the branch chairman to respond if the petitions are against the conduct of the Electoral committee and some other members of the branch Meanwhile TheNigeriaLawyer was informed of another drama brewing in the Ikorodu branch of the NBA where the former chairman of the branch , Mr. Adedotun Adetunji is frustrating the efforts of the current chairman, Mr Levi Adikwaone. Sources said that a few months ago, efforts by three former chairmen of NBA Ikorodu branch to impeach the current chairman failed when members resisted their plans and rendered useless their hold on the branch. We were informed that the same immediate past chairman who is also the current NEC Rep of the branch contested again for the position of NEC Rep of the branch in its forthcoming elections but was rightly disqualified by the Electoral Committee. But last night, that same current NEC Rep wrote on the branch forum, declaring his intention to run for a national office. many members of the branch are not supporting this move because the former chairman has been very unfair to the current chairman. TheNigeriaLawyer also sighted another letter from the law office of H.O Okeke & Co, counsel to Levi Adikwaone, informing the former branch chair, Adedotun Adetunji to desist from spreading false information that are derogatory, defamatory and malicious against his client, Levi Adikwaone. The letter reads in part you have over the last one year developed an irresistible penchant for publishing false information with libelous and or defamatory contents against our client. We are further insw letter titled “Re: Change Of Signatories For NBA Ikordu Branch Corporate Account No, 20033498233” in which you addressed our client in the following words:“…Must you steal all that belongs to the NBA? Honestly you are a disappointment, I had I know that you are a thief I would never have supported you to become a chairman” How can a former CHAIRMAN do this and expect to be endorsed by his branch to serve at the national level? Says one of the members. The stage is set for more intrigues as we watch closely what unfolds nex Below is the one of the petition [pdf-embedder url=”https://thenigerialawyer.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/petitions.pdf”]]]>
