The group made the called in Jos yesterday through the Chief Executive Officer of Lumazio Productions and Entertainment Mrs. Tokunbo Azubuike. The bill is being sponsored by Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Hon. Umar Jibrin and has undergone second reading. The NFC has been in existence for 38 years to produce films both for export and domestic consumption and to encourage local talent by the way of training, giving financial support and other related matters, the group lamented that the Corporation has faced dwindling factors that have reduced its efficacy and proper functioning. Mrs. Azubuike explained that the passing of the bill would enable the NFC to have more access to film grant, film rebate and other support incentives to film practitioners and with them taking part in disbursement of funds. She added that one of the reasons for evolving to a Commission by the NFC will be the material and necessary muscle to invest in equipment and capital goods and facilities that would enable the growth of a vibrant film industry in Nigeria. She lauded National Film Development Fund (NFDF)- new innovation introduced in the proposed film commission, saying it would be an endowment where budding talents and practitioners will be assessing film fund and would provide film grants meant for development of the film sector.]]>
