The National Assembly complex has since last week Friday being enveloped with stench since due to lack of water supply to clean or flush the toilets in the complex. This is just as the major part of the complex was thrown into darkness due to unstable power supply. Many cleaners in charge of cleaning the conveniences who were interviewed but spoke on condition of anonymity said their inability to flush the toilets as well as the day to day cleaning of the floor, windows and doors of the complex was because there was no water supply since Friday last week. They said that although they had been telling those that wanted to use the conveniences that there was no water and as such not to be used, but some people who are very pressed would insist on using them. ‘’This is why the foul odour coming from the toilets as a result of our inability to flush them due to lack of water supply that has taken over the buildings. ‘’The stinking odour you observed is coming from the toilets in the complex. ‘’Once the water supply which ceased since last week Friday is restored, we will clean the conveniences and the foul odour in the complex will stop’’, a cleaner said. Some senior officials interviewed said the National Assembly management is aware of the development, adding that there is a control switch situated on top of the complex under the care of the maintenance department of National Assembly. All attempts to reach out to Andrew Oota, the media assistant to the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Muhammed Sani-Omolori for his reaction was not successful as his phone number was switched off. Besides, he did not reply text message sent to his line too.]]>
