The Middle Belt Lawyer’s Forum has written a letter to the Eastern Bar Forum acknowledging the adoption of candidates for some key National offices by the EBF. In the letter addressed to the Governor of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF), the MBLF referenced the letter dated the 19th day of February, 2018 written to MBLF and unanimously agreed to accept the adopted candidates of EBF if only the following candidates of MBLF are accepted as against the candidates of EBF: Mrs. Mercy ljato Agada— National Treasurer Joshua Enernali Usman, Esq. — Welfare Secretary Below copy of Middle Belt Lawyers Forum statetment 7th July 2018 The Governor, Eastern Bar Forum (EBF), No 7 Udensi Street Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Dear Sir, RE: LETTER OF APPRECIATION AND NOTIFICATION OF THE ADOPTER CANDIDATES OF THE EASTERN BAR FORUM FOR THE FORTHCOMING NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION 2018 GENERAL ELECTION. Please refer to your letter of 19th February 2018 on the above subject matter delivered to our Forum during its meeting of 6th June 2018 in Abuja. At the meeting of the Middle Belt Lawyers Forum (MBLF) aforesaid, the Following persons who are members of our Forum were adopted as candidates of the Forum in respect of NBA National Offices listed against their respective names below for the forthcoming NBA 2018 elections. They are: 1. Mrs. Mercy ljato Agada— National Treasurer 2. Joshua Enernali Usman, Esq. — Welfare Secretary Please note that thereafter your letter of 19th February, 2018-Was read, deliberated upon and it was-consequently resolved as follows: i. The MBLF adopts the candidates of the EBF for the respective National offices of the NBA as contained in your letter under reference EXCEPT for the two (2) EBF candidates contesting for the same offices which the Middle Belt Lawyers Forum has also fielded and adopted candidates. ii. That your Forum should reciprocate the good faith exhibited by the MBLF by prevailing on Mrs. Uju Chukuma Okafor and Sebastian Anyia, Esq, your Forum’s adopted candidates for the offices of National Treasurer and Welfare Secretary respectively to step down and withdraw from the race for the MBLF’s adopted candidates. iii. That the Steering Committee of the MBLF is mandated to negotiate with your Forum with a view to giving effect to these Resolutions as a means of ensuring equitable representation of both our Fora within the Body of National Officers of the NBA. iv. That your Forum’s decision on the item (ii) above should be communicated in writing to the MBLF in good time to enable us to disseminate same to our teeming members before the date fixed for the 2018 NBA Election. Whilst conveying the assurances of our highest esteem, kindly note that we are of the firm conviction that your Forum will reciprocate our gesture in the interest of a future mutually more beneficial relationship.
