Muhammad Hameed, was on Friday remanded in Ilesa prison by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun State for allegedly having sex with his daughter for four months.

The Magistrate, Mrs Halimatu Bashir, who gave the order, said the accused be kept behind bars because of the magnitude of the offence he committed.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Duro Adekunle, told the court that the accused had unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter on August 28.

Adekunle said the incident occurred at about 8.00 p.m. at Ifelodun area of Osogbo, before he was caught by a neighbourhood watch team who later called the police.

He said that the offence contravened sections 32(1) (2) and section 31(1)(2) punishable under section 31(1)(2) of the child right Laws of Osun State, 2007.

He said the accused is facing a two-count charge of assault and rape.

The plea of the accused was not taken by the magistrate.

The case was adjourned to October 30 for mention.
