Prosecutor Gambo Musa told the court that one Ibrahim Bashir of Banex Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja, reported the matter at the Wuse Police Station on Nov. 23. Musa said that the defendant stole the complainant’s iPhone valued at N105,000, which was later recovered from the defendant by the police. He said that while the defendant was at the police station, he escaped with handcuffs, but was later re-arrested by the police and taken back to the police station. Musa said that the defendant damaged the handcuffs, adding that the offence contravened Section 288 and 172 of the Penal Code. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. The magistrate Mohammed Tahir, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 ,with a reliable surety that must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
