Lawyer Raises Alarm Over Threat To Life By An Alleged US Based Business Man

Nigerian legal practitioners are now becoming an endangered species not only in the hands of security agencies but to some people who believe that they can deal with any lawyer who stand in their way. U.S Based Lagos Auto Dealer, (Inspired Autos) Bimbola Emmanuel, Alias Bimbo Akin-Emmanuel is threatening the life of a lady lawyer for carrying out his legal duty to his client. According to the statement The Nigeria Lawyer (TNL) received from the lawyer, Sandra O.J Mbagwu-Fagbemi, she has made attempts to inform BIMBOLA EMMANUEL that she was only doing her job and that the money in question is not for her but the client but Emmanuel has failed to reason with her. Read her story below: On the morning of Sunday the 6th of May, 2018 I received several death threats sent to me via WhatsApp number from a U.S based telephone number +1(832)8205290. I was initially sure that this was a case of mistaken identity and replied as much. I was shocked when the person on the other end replied “No, I know your name, your office address, your car registration number, your home address and your relation in Texas”. He proceeded to send me my name and office address! I immediately asked my contacts in the United States to run checks on the number to identify the owner. One of them called the said number the person on the other end did not pick the phone but immediately called back with another cell phone number +19493940911. I immediately placed a phone call to this new number which was registered on true caller as the phone number of INSPIRED AUTOS. Inspired Autos is owned by Mr. ABIMBOLA EMMANUEL ALIAS BIMBO AKIN-EMMANUEL. He is the former Tenant of my Client and had rented my clients luxury flat in Ikoyi. At the end of his tenancy, he refused to hand over the keys to the flat or carry out joint hand-over inspection to take an inventory of the landlord’s fittings and furnishings in the apartment. My client took him to court for possession and arrears of rent. Despite being served with every process issued against him, he refused to attend court until judgment was entered against him. When possession of the flat was taken by the court bailiffs we discovered that Mr. Abimbola Emmanuel had removed all the brand new Samsung Split Unit ACs installed by the landlord and replaced them with non-functional decrepit ones. He had also vandalized the flat. Having waited for Mr. Emmanuel to pay the judgment without any response, we applied to the court for a garnishee order directing his bankers to pay the judgment debt out of the monies Mr. Emmanuel had with them. This order was granted by the court in the 1st week of May, 2018 and I guess that his death threats were precipitated by his bankers informing him that they had blocked the money in his account to satisfy my client’s judgement debt. I believe Mr. Emmanuel intends to carry out his threats. I tried to reason with him pointing out that: (a) I am just doing my Job and the money he is complaining about is not coming to my pocket. (b) His carrying out his threats will not stop my client collecting the money the Court has awarded to him. (c) The Judicial process is available to him if he thinks that he has any grievance(s). None of these made any impression on Mr. Emmanuel. He continued o threaten my life swearing on his family’s life that he must kill me for taking everything he has worked for. Today Sunday the 13th of May, 2018 Mr. Emmanuel decided to take his threats up another notch. He changed his Display Picture to one that showed a hand in chains with a black axe cutting the chains and a single word, AYE. He then sent me a message that his display picture should let me know the organization he is affiliated to and that he will never be linked to anything that happens to me because he would be in Malaysia when the hit would be carried out. I did an image search of the display picture he sent to me and realized that it was the emblem of the Black Axe Confraternity. I have reported the case to the Nigeria Police Force who are taking steps to investigate the matter.
