An 18-year-old labourer has been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 area court for allegedly inflicting injury on his neighbour for stoning his dog which excreted on his business premises.

Abba Basher of Dawaki Panteka was charged causing hurt and being in possession of weapon, offences contrary to section 241 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Shamsudeen Iliyasu, of same address, on September 18, complained at a Kubwa police station, of how the accused dog excreted in his place of business where he sells fairly used materials and he stoned it.

He said the accused, in the process, brought out a knife and pursued him and when he fell down, he stabbed him on his left hand with the said knife before he was rescued by some passers-by who collected the knife from him.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and the judge, Mohammed Marafa, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one reasonable surety who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
The case was adjouned to November 2 for hearing.

Similarly, a 25-year-old commercial motorcyclist was sentenced to five months imprisonment by the same court for inflicting injury on his neighbour in Byazhin Across, Kubwa, Abuja.

James Owoicho of Byazhin Across, was charged with causing grievous hurt, offence contrary to section 241 of the Penal Code, and sentenced to three months imprisonment.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Ade Peter, of same address, on September 12, complained at a Kubwa police station, of how the accused, on same date, acted in a violent manner without provocation.

He said the accused used plywood and hit him on his forehead and, as a result, sustained a deep cut which affected his left eye, thereby causing him body pain.

When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five months imprisonment by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with a fine option of N15,000.
