The Nigerian Bar Association Electoral Committee (ECNBA) 2018 established under Section 9(1) and Paragraph 2(1) of the Second Schedule of the Nigerian Bar Association Constitution, 2015 and inaugurated on 12th March, 2018, has finally transmitted a letter to all chairmen of the various branches of the NBA requesting for the list of qualified members for collation of list of eligible voters.
The letter which was dated the 9th day of April, 2018 and signed by the Secretary of ECNBA, Bolaji A. Agoro, Esq states that the request is made as it is necessary for the Committee to conduct free, fair, transparent and open elections into the National Offices in July 2018.
According to the letter, only members who have fulfilled their financial obligations by paying the Bar Practicing Fees as well as the Branch Dues for 2018 as at 31st March 2018 are those who will make the lists and will be qualified to vote. ECNBA therefore demands that the required list must contain the names, valid phone numbers and active email addresses of members, who have paid their fees as at the due date.
Furthermore, branch chairmen are also enjoined to supply the bank details of the Branch account to establish the proof of payments made by the respective members.
Also the said documents must as a matter of fact reach the National Secretariat of the NBA not later than 27th April, 2018. Attached to the letter as well was a template as a guide for the information required.
Chairmen of the various branches are hereby advised to comply as soon as possible as time is of essence to that effect.
