A section of media had quoted unnamed sources in the APC as saying the party had forwarded the name of Alhaji Yahaya Bello to INEC as a replacement ‎for Prince Abubakar Audu who died last Sunday while the results were being collated by the INEC. Sources at the commission told our correspondent last night that the electoral body was yet to receive any such communication from the party. When contacted, Assistant Director, Publicity at the commission, Nick Dazang said he was not in any position to speak for the APC. He directed all inquiries to the party. However, Vanguard learnt that the APC might have settled for the candidature of Mr Bello in spite of protests from some groups within the party who wanted a total cancellation of the election. It was gathered that the APC opted for Bello to avoid running foul of the law by choosing any of the candidates who did not take part in the last primaries that produced the late Audu.]]>
