The association said Buhari deserved to be impeached for failing in his constitutional responsibility of ensuring the security of lives and property of the citizens that he swore to protect. It said it was suspect that the Buhari-led Federal Government, which unleashed its might against the Niger Delta militants and the agitating Indigenous People of Biafra, suddenly became helpless when it came to killings by the Fulani herdsmen, who are the President’s tribesmen. The NBA Ikeja’s chairman, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana, conveyed the branch’s position on the herdsmen’s killings while briefing journalists on Thursday about this year’s edition of the branch’s annual public lecture in honour of the late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN). Ogunlana said the lecture, with the theme, “Federalism, restructuring, good governance: Striking a balance,” would hold on January 15 at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. He said, “The question and puzzle now is: why the Federal Government is supine in the face of atrocities of the Fulani herdsmen, which have led to the horrible massacres of thousands of people and the displacement of hundreds of thousands? “Many Nigerians are now openly suspecting that the Federal Government’s tepid response is due to the blood ties of the leading members of the Buhari administration, particularly the President himself, the army, police and intelligence chiefs.” The NBA leader said it was responsible to claim that the killer Fulani herdsmen were faceless when the “Miyetti Allah Cattle Association, of whom the President himself is a member, has come out to say that it is behind the killings because their cattle were killed or rustled.”]]>
