Tijani Gazalli, a senior state counsel, yesterday asked a Federal High Court in Abuja for time to bring a preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the fundamental rights enforcement suit. Gazalli said the suit ought to be filed in Borno State, where the incident took place, adding that the applicant lacked locus standi to bring the suit, since he does not know the victims of the bombing. He said the office was unaware of the matter in court, and pleaded the court not to award punitive costs for the delay. Hameed Ajibola Jimoh, had in February filed the suit demanding N100 million to families of each of the over 50 victims that died and N50 million for the injured in the bombing, which occurred in Rann, Borno State. Meanwhile, Justice John Tsoho has directed the AGF to pay the default fee for late filing of processes and adjourned the suit to April 28 for hearing.]]>
