Bako of Sauka Village, Airport Road, Abuja, was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal trespass, house breaking and theft contrary to sections 348, 354 and 288 of the Penal Code. Bako confessed to committing the crime and pleaded with the Senior Magistrate Usman Shuaibu to be lenient in his judgment. Shuaibu granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1 million with one surety in like sum and adjourned till March 2 for sentencing. Earlier, the prosecutor, Olawale Ayeni, told the court that the defendant’s employer, Abraham Kalu of Area 11, Garki, Abuja, reported the matter at Wuse Police station on November 12. Ayeni told the court that Bako used a hammer to break into the room of his boss through the front door, stole the money kept in a wardrobe and escaped. He said after many weeks of searching for the defendant, he was seen at the Abuja Airport and arrested by the police. He said the defendant had used the money to build a house at Sauka village.]]>
