Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos state high court yesterday heard how a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) company known as convent options limited defrauded some Nigerians of millions of naira.
One of the victims of the fraudulent scheme, Darlington Agomuo told the judge, while testifying in the ongoing trial of the alleged mastermind of the syndicate, Chibogum Benson Oraelosi, that he lost N3.5 million after he was lured into investing into the scheme.
According to the witness, “I was introduced to the company by one Daniel Inyang who convinced me that the company was real.
“I was skeptical at first but the managing director of the company, Chibogum Benson Oraelosi convinced me that her company is genuine and that they have partners abroad.
“She explained to me how the MLM works, convincing me that after I register with N20,000, I would have to bring three more people who are also expected to bring more people,’’ he said.
