Adewale, who resides at No 13, Maryland Crescent, Maryland, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and unlawful possession. The prosecutor, Insp. Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offences between July 2015 and August 2015. He said that the accused stole one set of neck beads; two sets of gold jewellries, four wrist watches and 700 dollars, totaling N8 million, property of Mrs Florence Oyebanjo. Unuigbe said that on Aug. 23, 2015, two cartridges were also found in the possession of the accused which he could not account for. The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 27 (b) and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes three-year jail for offenders. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Magistrate, Mr P. A. Ojo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties, who must be blood relations and adjourned the case till March 11 for trial.]]>
