Gani, Falana Other Guests Storm Aso Rock For June 12 Investiture

The investiture is scheduled to hold inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa,Abuja at 10:00am. Besides Abiola, the President is also expected to bestow the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Baba Gana Kingibe, who served as running mate to the late MKO in the botched presidential election. Buhari will equally confer the GCON on the late human rights lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi. According to the Presidency, June 12 will officially become a national public holiday from next year. Exactly 25 years ago, the regime of the self-styled military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election which was adjudged as one of the freest and fairest in the nation’s history. As at the time of filing this brief report, prominent figures that featured in the struggle for the actualization of June 12 were already seated at the banquet hall.
