Buratai said the Nigerian Army (NA) would restore peace and order in the affected States. The Army Chief gave this assurance during the distribution of farm implements by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh at the military ranch situated in Giri, in Abuja. According to him, once there is peace in the country, it would be easier to develop the agricultural sector and boost the nation’s economy. Buratai said: “We are asking our Special Forces Brigade to ensure that they are deployed across the county at short notice to ensure they stem the menace between herdsmen and farmers. We are right deployed properly across Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa States within that axis where we have such conflicts to ensure that once there is peace and stability, this development will strive for the betterment of our country.” Buratai added that the army has secured about 436 hectares of land in Nasarawa state for agricultural purpose, stressing that once the nation is able to achieve food security, other forms of criminal activities including insurgency would be drastically reduced.]]>
