SGF told the Board Members that their appointment came as a result of vacancies created by the virtue of the Federal Government’s approval for the dissolution of Boards of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies and Government-Owned Companies in 2015, and the urgent need to constitute the Commission with full complements of its members to carry on with its mandate in accordance with Section 2 of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission Act, 2004. Dr. Habiba Lawal, according to a statement by the Assistant Director (Press), Office of the SGF, Mohammed T. K. Nakorji, reminded the Board Members that the role of the Commission is very vital to enthroning a steady polity, especially, with agitations around the country now over. She said “It is my believe that you will bring your experience to bear on the Commission and make it succeed,” Stressing that the Change mantra of Buhari Administration must not be compromised, she urged the new board members to have the interest and the general well-being of the country as topmost priority in the discharge of their official duties. The Chairman, in his response, pledged the allegiance of members of the Board to do their best to move the economy forward. According to him, this is not the time to expect reward for work done as the government is facing economic challenges. He thanked the President for giving them the opportunity to serve the nation. The appointments are for a term of 5 years which is renewable at the discretion of Mr. President, for another term of 5 years.]]>
