The governor stated that the people of the state allowed the security agencies take over that Sharks Football Club Stadium and other state facilities because of the visitors from other states. Wike, who stated this in Port Harcourt while inaugurating the State Peace and Security Committee, said that the state government will seek judicial interpretation if the Federal Government was right to take laws into their hands. Members of the committee include; the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Shipyard (NNS) Pathfinder, representative of the Nigerian Army, the State Police Commissioner, the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Comptroller of Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) and Comptroller of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS). Others are the Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the Commander of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and a representative of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers (RSCTR) Speaking further, the governor stated that the security agencies should not think that the illegal invasion of stadium and other government property was a dress rehearsal for the rigging of the forthcoming rerun elections in the state. He said, “I hope what you did that day is not what you plan to do during the rerun elections. We allowed it because we had visitors from outside. Nobody will allow you rig elections in this state.” Wike, who charged members of the Peace and Security Committee to work towards promoting security of lives and property within the ambit of the law, berated the prison authorities for playing politics with the production of a murder suspect in court for prosecution.
