Ebonyi APC faction to sue Oyegun over exco inauguration

Ucha stated this on Friday in Abakaliki, the state capital, while X-raying the activities of the party with reference to the conduct of ward congresses on May 5, 2018, across states in the country. He berated Odigie-Oyegun and members of the NWC for inaugurating the party’s state executives without adhering to what he termed party constitution and guidelines. He said, “The act is unconstitutional. The APC legal adviser cautioned against the swearing-in but people were inaugurated by the national chairman at 6.45pm as if the issues at stake were a military junta exercise. We say no to injustice, especially where there was a concocted inauguration of state executives. You don’t put something on nothing. “If you are aggrieved over the actions/conduct of people who do not believe in the rule of justice, dragging the party to court is an option that is available to us in this circumstance. “All that the national chairman put in place under the guise of inauguration of state executives would be addressed by the incoming NWC. Our prayer is that the APC should stand firm and not allow the national chairman to destroy the party.” Ucha alleged that some notable members of the party in Ebonyi State connived to deny the central senatorial zone, comprising Ezza South, Ezza North, Ikwo and the Ishielu Local Government Area the position of the party chairman. He stated, “If the bigwigs did not allow the process to go through in order to achieve equity and transparency, the NWC of the party could have intervened. Unfortunately, that was not done. “The party guidelines provided that the existing zoning formula shall remain in zones where positions existed since 2014. We will not sit back and watch the party guidelines truncated by people who do not believe in the rule of law but only want to capture the party structure. “From the records made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ebonyi State, there was no ward congress in Ikwo, Ezza South, Ezza North, Ishielu, Ohaozara and Onicha councils.’’ Saying there were two APC factions in the state, Ocha added that his faction conducted ward congress at the state party secretariat and “the other faction held its own congress at a private residence against the party guidelines.’’]]>
