According to the statement released by the Governor of the forum, Elvis Chukwu Esq, “The EBF is committed to the unity of Nigeria, but we are also committed to the respect for human rights for all people of Nigeria. The escalation of the tension in the South-East of Nigeria by Operation Python Dance 11, is to say the least unacceptable and must be condemned in its entirety.” Arthur said “The lull into a sense of false insecurity within the South-East by the Nigerian Army to justify the use of force is not only non-pragmatic, but also barbaric. “The pitiable and comical attempt by the Nigerian Army to deny the real reason behind this easily discernable python dance is laughable. This approach can only give birth to more tension and bloodshed,” he said. The Forum is therefore urging the Federal Govt of Nigeria to immediately call off this dangerous dance as a bad wind which will blow nobody any good. They are also calling on lawyers everywhere in Nigeria to speak up to avert this imminent real danger. “May GOD grant us the wisdom to do what is right. Our unity as Nigerians should not be sacrificed on the altar of unnecessary showmanship. The situation is still salvageable. Let us make it quick before more lives are lost,” Arthur said.]]>
