There was a mild drama on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday when a member from Kaduna State, Jagaba Adams Jagaba, announced himself as a PDP member.
Jagaba, who came to the House under the ruling APC, recently announced in Kaduna that he was dumping the party to the opposition PDP.
But he is yet to make a formal announcement to that effect, which is supposed to be presented to Speaker Yakubu Dogara to be read at plenary
However, Jagaba while introducing himself preparatory to making a contribution to a motion said: “I’m Hon Jagaba Adams Jagaba and I’m of the PDP.”
Dogara immediately said: “No, no, Jagaba. You can’t do this to me.”
This made the PDP members to chant their party’s name in jubilation, while members of the APC shouted “no, no.”
The atmosphere lasted for some minutes before normalcy returned.
Dogara then remarked that: “The truth is that I’m not aware and the House is not aware. As a ranking member, you know what to do. So, as far as we’re concerned, you’re still a member of APC.”
