Our reporter learnt a crucial meeting between both families was held in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday and both families were in attendance. The lawyer told Saturday Beats that although the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons had intervened in on the matter, family friends of both sides held the meeting to end the saga and ensure the safety of the baby girl, Imade. Ajayi said, “The matter has gone beyond NAPTIP level now. Series of meetings have been held to see how both parties can broker peace. Well-meaning Nigerians have waded into the matter and they have got both parties to meet and talk. We have been talking and the climax of the meeting held on Thursday somewhere in GRA, Ikeja and both sides were present. The meeting was convened by elder statesmen who are friends of both families. Davido’s father, Dr. Adeleke, was present at the meeting along with his brother, Mr. Adeeyo; also, Dele Momodu was present at the meeting with Sophia and her mother. “Both parties had begun to hold peace talks but it was not at the insistence of NAPTIP. It was only coincidental that it was the day NAPTIP went to them that they had the peace talk. It was simply an insistence of very mature and responsible adults from various sectors of life ranging from academics to the business world, meeting for the best interest of the child. Some measures of concession wwere agreed upon that would not compromise the interest of the child. It was agreed that Sophia would have unhindered access to her child. There were all sorts of measures that would favour the child and she would be raised under the supervision of both families. From all indications, peace would begin to reign now.”]]>
