“Constitutional Powers and Functions Are Not Enough Powers for Any Local Government Council In Nigeria to Act And Exercise.” Constitutionally there are several clear rights, powers and functions to be conferred on Local Governments in Nigeria. Such includes powers to collect rates, issue licenses, establish institutions, register affairs and control some activities. Although they are constitutional functions, they cannot be performed by any Local Government Council until and unless it’s State House of Assembly enacts a Law specifically conferring such on the Local Government Council. See section 7 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. #DailyLawTips #LearnNigerianLaws #SabiLaw To receive our Daily Law Tips for free follow our Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram via “@LearnNigerianLaws”.
