The Portugal international has looked frustrated at the Bernabeu this season, with his form in La Liga suffering as Los Blancos have slipped to fourth spot in the table – eight points behind leaders Barcelona. He was heavily linked with a summer transfer, with PSG and Manchester United both muted as potential destinations, after growing frustrated with his treatment by the Spanish press during a tax scandal. Ronaldo also felt he received a lack of support from Real president Florentino Perez at the time, and, according to El Chiringuito TV, that rift has grown even bigger in recent weeks. The Spanish television show reports that Ronaldo is refusing to negotiate with Real over a renewal on his current contract, and is now ‘closer than ever’ to leaving the Bernabeu. He is refusing to listen to any offers, while Real themselves are wary of extending his current deal, which runs until 2021, and do not believe they need to offer fresh terms to a player who is already tied down for the next three years. Tensions between Ronaldo and Perez escalated further after the Ballon d’Or, with the 32-year-old livid with the Real president’s comments on Neymar. Perez had made his most overt statement yet that he would like to sign Neymar, saying: ‘Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d’Or. Madrid is a club that gives a big player everything they need to do so.’ El Chiringuito even go as far as to claim that Ronaldo has tasked his lawyers with getting a written document from Real Madrid allowing him to leave in the summer. His release clause is currently set at £1billion and Real are adamant that they will only sell if that buy-out fee is met – but Ronaldo knows no team can pay that. As such, he hopes his lawyers can negotiate an exit clause in his contract that will allow him to leave the Spanish capital this summer for a more realistic price. Jose Mourinho was keen to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer, and interestingly sent him a classy message after his Ballon d’Or win saying he has secured his footballing legacy. Ronaldo – who has nine goals in the Champions League but only four in La Liga this season – is currently in the United Arab Emirates with the rest of the Real squad for the Club World Cup, and takes on Al-Jazira on Wednesday.]]>
