Adeniji disclosed this last week while reeling out the agenda of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) under his tenure saying that the state government is determined to make justice available not only for the rich but also for the poor. We will open more mediation centres in each local government. We want to have a Ministry of Justice that touches the lives of people. Justice is not a concept that is meant only for the rich but also the poor. This administration will push for the protection of the weak and the oppressed”, he said. ‎He continued that to decongest the prisons, the administration would push for community sentencing. He posited that mobile courts will also be increased while adequate attention would be paid to cyber crimes and training of the staff of the Ministry. “We want to push for community sentencing where offenders are asked to perform community service instead of going to jail. This will help to decongest prisons. We will introduce more mobile courts through the use of specialised buses with magistrates on board. We will also tackle the issue of cyber crime by creating cyber forensics team and have criminal data register. If we have proper records of criminals, it will help the judges when they are deciding matters before them,” he said. ]]>
