Chief Magistrate Afolashade Botoku gave the order after Aji was arraigned before the court by policemen from the Railway Command of Nigeria Police on a two count charge of having forceful sexual intercourse and assaulting his victim. The prosecutor, Inspector Moses Uademevbo, informed the court that the accused committed the offences on January 11, 2016 at Woodward Police Barracks, Railway Compound, Ebute Meta. According to the police, Aji, a former Police orderly to the Commissioner of Police, Railway division, had assaulted Fayemi by beating her to a stupor. Uademevbo also alleged that the complainant had demanded for her fees after engaging in sexual intercourse with her, and in anger the accused had assaulted her causing her injuries on her waist, neck and leg. The prosecutor maintained that the offences is contrary to and is punishable under Sections 172(a) and 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011 The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. Consequently, Chief Magistrate Folashade Botoku ordered the remand of the accused and has adjourned the matter to February 18, for ruling on the bail application filed by Aji.]]>
