A graduate of Microbiology and a postgraduate student of Mass Communication, Onah resides at No. 12, Mosalashi Street, Alagbado, Lagos. She is standing trial on a five-count charge bordering on possession and sale of fake drugs. When the five-count charge was read to her, she pleaded guilty to all. The prosecutor, Mr. Shamaki Umar, therefore, urged the court to remand the accused pending the review of facts.The application for remand was objected to by counsel to the accused Mr. S. O. Onyenze on the grounds that the accused was a sickle cell patient who had been in custody for over two weeks. He stressed that the accused had a failing health situation and so, could not continuously be kept in prison custody.Onyeze therefore, prayed the court for the accused to be released to the defence due to her peculiar state of health.Again, the prosecution urged the court to refuse the prayer of counsel, and order the remand of the accused in prison.Umar added that the prison authorities had the requisite medical facilities for the management of the accused health. He, therefore, reiterated his prayer for remand of the accused pending the review of facts.The trial judge, in a short ruling refused the application by defence counsel for the accused to be released to him.Obiozor consequently ordered the remand of the accused in prison, and adjourned the case to February 26 for a review of facts.In the charge, the accused was said to have committed the offence on January 26. The prosecutor told the court that the accused sold fake brand of 200 mg of Amazon Amagyl Metronidazole tablets to members of the public.
