Justice Olasumbo Goodluck in her judgment directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include the name of Mr. Saleh Yebu as candidate in the said election in Kwali Area Council. Reacting Mr. Yebu who commended the judiciary for the judgment added that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man in the nation nascent democracy. “What we have seen in the judiciary has given us hope for the common man. I am grateful to the judiciary. It has given us hope. We are hoping that with the support we are getting, we will win. And we promise to come out with people- oriented projects,” he said. Also speaking on the postponement of the election by INEC, the former acting Kwali chairman described it as normal in any democratic system adding that it will help politicians to put finishing touches to their preparation. “This is not the first time the government is shifting elections. It happens everywhere. It is even good for politicians, as they will be able to put finishing touches and canvassed for votes from the electorates. It has given us opportunity to educate people more about our manifesto,” he said. Yebu’s name was not part of the list of names of candidate earlier published by INEC for the elections.]]>
