The accused is standing trial on a two-count of felony and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons. The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi told the court that the accused, on Aug. 20 around 12:30 a.m, at Ayeka-Irele Junction in Okitipupa, was caught with a UTC axe, two sledge hammers, two daggers and a big saw blade. The prosecutor alleged that the accused neither gave any satisfactory explanation of his destination nor what the dangerous weapons were meant for. He said the offences contravened Sections 351 and 80 of Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006. The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum. Ayeomoni ordered the surety to show evidence of a year’s tax payment to Ondo state government as part of the bail conditions and adjourned the case to Sept. 26, for further hearing. NAN]]>
