Below reads the COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE QUARTERLY GENERAL MEETING OF THE EASTERN BAR FORUM (EBF) INTRODUCTION The eastern bar forum at its quarterly meeting held at the NBA Port Harcourt Branch House, opposite Phalga Secretariat, 1 Bank Road, Port Harcourt River state, Nigeria on Saturday, the 3rd day of February, 2018considered several issues including, but not limited to; insecurity in the country, adoption of aspirants of EBF extractions wishing to contest the NBA National Elections 2018. The Forum examined these issues and resolved as follows: INSECURITY IN THE COUNTRY The Forum noted with concern the insecurity, wanton killings and destruction of lives and properties across the country. The Forum reiterated its call on the Federal Government to stem the tide of insecurity in the country. ADOPTION OF ASPIRANTS FOR THE NBA NATIONAL ELECTIONS 2018 The Forum noted that many of its members have expressed interest in contesting for various offices in the NBA National Elections, 2018 The Forum in line with the Constitution screened, cleared and adopted candidates to contest the NBA National elections in 2018 when the political time table/guidelines are released. The screening exercise and the adoption were witnessed by lawyers from other Regional For a including the Arewa Lawyers Forum, Un Egbe Amufin Oodua, the Southwest Lawyers Forum and the Midwest Forum as well as other branches of NBA across Nigeria. The adopted candidates/offices are as follows:
