The duo were arraigned for allegedly beating up Chief Alao, his wife, Rashidat and younger brother. They were also alleged to have vandalised Chief Alao’s Lexus jeep for daring to challenge what he described as his unlawful removal as the Baale of Olode. The incident was said to have happened when Alao and his family members went to the town to deposit court injunction, informing the community of the impending suit challenging his removal. In the charge sheet delineated MC/43C/2017, a-four-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony to wit; assault occasioning harm was levelled against the duo. Part of the charge read: “That you, Odeyemi Abdulwasiu ‘m’, Musibau Lawal ‘m’ and others now at large, on January 11, 2017 at about 4:00p.m. at Olode town, Ibadan, in the Ibadan Magisterial District, did conspired together to commit felony to wit; assault occasioning harm and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.” Chief Magistrate Oladiran adjourned the case till March 7 for hearing after granting the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum with the condition that the surety should be a public officer with a minimum Grade level 10.]]>
