An amendment of the Act establishing the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, to reposition the institution towards advancement of learning scaled second reading in the Senate on Wednesday.
Sponsor of the motion, Senator Jibrin Barau (APC Kano North) explained that NOUN’s concept and operations were meant to be information and technology-driven, emphasising that there should be no discrimination of their products for any reason.
Barau maintained that objectives of the Open University should be crafted in a manner that it enhances educational efficiency which confers impeccable status on the institution.
With this development, relief may be coming the way of graduates of faculty of Law at NOUN who have been experiencing difficulty in going to Law school.
Senator Barau, who spoke with our reporter on the bill after plenary, stressed that the amendment would solve the NOUN law graduates face-off with Council for Legal Education once the bill is passed into law.
