The Public Relation Officer of Abia State Police Command, Udeviotu Onyeke, DSP, who disclosed this to newsmen in a telephone chat, said he however, did not have the identity of the suspects yet. The traditional ruler was last month killed in his palace and his body was mutilated by the gunmen. His killers also inflicted serious machete injuries on his wife and daughter- in-law. Though the reason for the killing was not known, the slain monarch was said to be getting ready for his coronation ceremony before the assassins struck. According to a resident of the sleepy community, “Eze Nwabeke is easy going and a peace loving man who has contributed immensely to the development of this community. We wonder why someone will go to the extent of killing him”.
